At least three suspected robbers were killed while a policeman was wounded in two armed encounters in Quezon City Wednesday night.

Radio dzBB reported early Thursday the first incident occurred about 8 p.m. at the Batasan Underpass in Quezon City, where the suspects were robbing passengers of a jeep.

Quezon City police director Chief Superintendent Benjardi Mantele said the suspects shot it out with a police patrol team that chanced on them.

One of the suspects was killed in the shootout while a policeman initially identified as Añonuevo was wounded.

A follow-up operation led to another encounter along Regalado Street in Holy Spirit village, where cops shot dead two more suspected robbers.

The slain suspects were not immediately identified.

Initial investigation showed the two who were killed were among a group of six people – five men and a young girl aged seven to nine. — LBG, GMANews.TV
