3 lawmen hurt in M’danao shooting

THREE members of the Intelligence Group were wounded when they were shot by unidentified armed men the other day in a remote village in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

Taken to Cotabato Regional Medical Center for treatment were SPO2 Nolan Mabuti, PO3 Sherwin Maroto and PO2 Albert Bernate, all assigned at PNP Intelligence Group.

The incident occurred at around 6 p.m. on the boundary of Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat along the highway of Lower Limbo, Sultan Kudarat.

The victims were in a vehicle travelling in the said highway when three men armed with long firearms suddenly appeared and began firing at the rear tires of the vehicle.

The suspects ordered the three policemen to get off their vehicle but the armed men suddenly opend fire at the policemen who were already disembarking from their vehicle.

After the incident, the suspects fled while the victims were rushed to the hospital.

Responding policemen recovered several empty shells for unknown caliber of firearms at the scene.
