THREE family members were found dead inside their house in Sta. Cruz, Manila yesterday morning.
The fatalities identified as Jacinto de Guzman alias “Jessie,” 38 and children Jennifer, 16, and Jeramil, 17, were found lifeless in their residence at No. 2411 Leonor Rivera St., Sta. Cruz, around 11 a.m.
PO3 Paul Dennis Javier of the Manila Police District-homicide section said Jacinto’s wife Editha spent her morning selling chickens in the market as part of her daily routine and was surprised to find her family dead.
Editha panicked and ran out for help.
Investigation later showed that Jacinto and Jennifer died from ingestion of silver cleaner and were found lying beside each other on their bed, while Jeramil was on the floor, with bruises and contusions.
Jeramil also sustained a deep cut in the head which may have been caused by a hard object while Jennifer bore wounds in the leg
Investigators found a stainless glass, two pitchers and a hammer at the crime scene.
Initial investigation revealed that a nine-year old boy, a relative of the victims living with them in the same house, allegedly heard Jennifer and Jeramil crying and pleading for their lives around 5 a.m.
The boy told probers the victims were on the second floor while he stayed on the first floor.
Moments later, Jacinto reportedly told him to get out of the house, which he did. When he came back, a lot of people were already milling around their house and the victims had been found dead.
Investigators are still establishing the motive behind the crime.
Police said it was possible the deaths may have been caused by Jacinto himself, who allegedly took his own life by gulping a bottle of silver cleaner.
