MANILA – Two men who allegedly robbed a gasoline station in Sto. Tomas, Batangas were killed in a shootout with police on Friday night.

Police said the suspects identified only as “Beteng” and “Atay” were on board a motorcycle when they stopped by a gasoline station at 10 p.m. in the municipality of Sto. Tomas.

“Akala ko magpapa-gas lang pero kaagad dumiretso sa likod tapos sabay sabi na holdap,” said gasoline boy Leo Fernandez.

After carting away P1,500 in cash, the suspects then sped off. Luckily, policemen were in the area when the incident happened.

“Hinarang ko ang mobile. Tapos tinuro ko ang motor,” said the gas station’s cashier Manuel Salvosa.

Police chased the suspects who drove toward Tanauan City. However, the duo fell of their motorcycle and fled on foot.

“Doon pa lang sa kanto, nagpapaputok na ang mga yan,” said Superintendent Bernard Dasugo, chief of the Sto. Tomas police. Report from Ernie Manio, ABS-CBN News Southern Tagalog
