MANILA, Philippines – Two soldiers were killed after being shot by three unidentified gunmen at a market Batangas province today, a police official said.
Chief Inspector Rodolfo Ama, Calatagan police chief, identified the victims only as Pvt. Carasco and Pvt. Pahalga, members of the Army’s 16th Infantry Battalion.
Ama said the two suffered several gunshot wounds on the body.
In a radio interview, Ama said the two soldiers were doing marketing chores at Brgy. Luksuhin, Calagatan, Batangas when three gunmen, armed with cal. 45 pistols, suddenly fired on the victims.
“This (attack) was planned,” he said, noting the soldiers were not able to return fire during the incident.
