CEBU, Philippines – Three men landed in the hospital after they were shot by unidentified men in separate incidents in Cebu City evening last Saturday and dawn last Sunday.

One of the incidents was believed to be drug-related.

In the Saturday incident, Jordan Uy Tan, 27, a Chinese-Filipino, a supervisor of a toy store along Plaridel Street, was shot by an unidentified man near his store around 7pm.

Tan told the police he was walking along Manalili Street with his co-employees, one Christy Sy and a certain Vince, when an armed man approached them and shot him on the right portion of his hip. Afterwards, the assailant reportedly walked calmly away and disappeared.

Tan was rushed to the Chong Hua Hospital.

SPO4 Alex Dacua of the Cebu City Police Office-Homicide Section said someone might have a grudge against be the victim who, from his end, reportedly claimed he has no enemies.

Dacua theorized the mastermind or the assailant only wanted to give Tan a warning and did not really intend to kill him.

Meanwhile, a few hours later, Dionisio Paduga, 37, and Richad Pisquera alias Amang, 33, were shot by another unidentified man in barangay Hipodromo past 4pm while playing the a gambling game locally known as “hantak.”

The victims were playing within the premises of the house of Sally Sarno when the assailant, armed with a gun, approached and suddenly shot them several times, hitting Paduga on the right knee and back and Pisquera on the neck and right hand. The suspect immediately fled.

The victims were taken to the Cebu City Medical Center and Perpetual Soccour Hospital.

Dacua said the victims allegedly did not cooperate in the investigation. He said it is possible that the incident has something to do with illegal drugs. —Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
