TWO persons, including an officer of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), were killed when unidentified suspects shot them on their way to work the other day in Agusan del Sur.
The fatalities were identified as Camilo O. Castones, 43, married, MENRO, local government employee of Rosario, Agusan del Sur, and resident of Purok 2, Bgy. Wasian, and Joseph Camarillo, 18, tricycle driver, of Purok Bahi, Sta. Cruz, both in Rosario.
According to Caraga police spokesman Supt. Martin Gamba, the incident occurred at around 8:30 a.m. in Purok Guava, Bgy. Sta. Cruz, Rosario.
The victims were on a motorcycle driven by Camarillo on their way to MENRO monitoring post in Bgy. Sta. Cruz when the suspects suddenly appeared and fired at the victims several times.
Both victims died from multiple gunshot wounds in their bodies.
Police are looking into personal grudge as the motive behind the killing as Castones was involved in mining activities in the hinterland barangay.
