Two men were stabbed dead in two separate incidents since Monday night in Quezon City.
Chief Inspector Benjamin Elenzano, chief of the homicide investigation section of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), identified the two victims as construction worker Steph Ancheta, 30, and tricycle driver Alfonso Hinacay, 30.
Elenzano said that police arrested construction worker Antonio Gallardo, 46, before he could allegedly escape following the death of Ancheta.
However, the police official said that the suspect in Inacay’s death remains unidentified but believes that a passenger of the tricycle driver could have been the culprit.
Ancheta was allegedly stabbed by Gallardo at 10 p.m. at the construction site they are working at Villaflor Subdivision in Barangay Gulod, Novaliches. At that time, Gallardo was allegedly drunk when he returned to the construction site where the barracks are located.
Co-workers told police that Ancheta was still awake when he opened the gate for Gallardo.
After opening the gate, Ancheta was stabbed by the suspect and then ran to seek the help of sleeping co-workers.
Ancheta who sustained multiple stab wounds was rushed to the Bernardino Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Gallardo was arrested by police while looking for a ride as he attempted to escape.
The suspect admitted that he had a fight with someone on his way to the construction site and, in his drunkenness, took his ire on the victim.
Several hours later, Hinacay was found dead at 1:40 a.m. along Maryland St. corner Atherton Bridge, North Fairview.
A friend of the victim, Johnny Baquez, told police that he was at the tricycle terminal waiting for passengers when someone told him that Hinacay was found sprawled in the area
