TWO suspected notorious robbers in Iloilo were killed in a gunfight yesterday with policemen tracking them down for their latest involvement in a daring heist at an LBC branch in Passi City in Iloilo, Western Visayas police director C/Supt. Samuel D. Pagdilao Jr. said.
Pagdilao identified the slain suspects as Arnel Chiva and his brother Gilbert alias “Ingkot,” suspected members of the Chiva Robbery Gang.
He said both died on spot after a firefight with officers who raided their hideout in Sitio Bolicao, Bgy. Alibunan, Calinog, Iloilo after the LBC robbery incident in Passi City.
Pagdilao also said his men arrested the surviving member of the gang, Arnel Chiva and the owner of the suspects’ safe house identified as Allan Camagan following the 7 a.m. clash.
He said the suspects are included in the list of most wanted persons for robbery holdup incidents in the province.
“This is the result of our intensified anti-crime drive in the whole of Western Visayas particularly in Iloilo City which has been the scene of some daring heists in the past,” he said.
Pagdilao has created a special task group to address the series of robbery incidents in Iloilo City and other parts of the region. The group is composed of agents from the PRO6, the Iloilo Provincial Police, the Regional Intelligence Office 6 and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 6. Alfred Dalizon
