TWO persons were killed, including an old woman, in a grenade explosion in front of the victim’s store the other day in Hilongos, Leyte.

The fatalities were identified as Corazon Vilbar Vega, 63, store owner, and Teofilo Manisi Fabio Jr., both of Bgy. Tali-say, Hilongos.

Reports said the incident occurred last Oct. 8.

Investigators said Fabio, who was drunk, accidentally dropped the grenade which exploded.

Vega and Fabio died before reaching Leyte Baptist Hospital.

Authorities recovered a Magnum .357 “paltik” revolver loaded with six ammunition, grenade fragments, drug paraphernalia and a plastic sachet containing 20 grams of suspected shabu from the explosion site.

It was learned that Fabio is a known drug pusher in the municipality.
