TWO notorious drug dens in Ilocos Sur were smashed by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in separate raids which resulted in the arrest of eight suspects, including a minor, PDEA chair Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac Jr. said yesterday.
Cacdac said members of the PDEA Regional Office 1, armed with four search warrants issued by a local judge, raided the drug dives where they arrested two den operators and five others including the minor last Monday.
He identified the suspects as Fennie Arruejo, 29, a store owner; Jane Mabaga, alias Nicole Jean Arruejo, 18; Mark Jay-Ar Yacap, 27, a tricycle driver; Leni Isik, 23, a brand ambassador; Cyrus Alvares, 23, Robin Tajon, Edgar Arruejo and a 16-year-old minor.
Cacdac said local PDEA operatives, under Director Adrian Alvariño, assisted by agents of the Ilocos Sur Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, the Vigan City Police Station and the Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office, simultaneously served the four search warrants issued by Judge Francisco A. Ante Jr.
The raid at the house of Salimao resulted in her arrest and the seizure of 96 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu.
