NAGA CITY, Philippines—An explosion of still undetermined origin killed two persons and wounded two more in the town of Balud in Masbate on Thursday (June 6), a sketchy report from police said.
The explosion happened around 5 p.m. at the nipa hut adjacent to the residence of barangay (village) chairman Lina Recto in Barangay Pajo, Balud, the report released Thursday evening by Supt. Renato Bataller, chief of the information office of the Bicol Philippine National Police, said.
Victims Jelly Sese, a resident of the area, and Lolito Tabique, a resident of Samar, who were both around the hut, died immediately of wounds in different parts of the body, the report said.
The explosion wounded Rechil Sese, also a resident of Barangay Pajo and whose relation to Jelly Sese has yet to be established by the police, and a certain Delia of Samar province, the report added.
The wounded victims were immediately taken to the Masbate Doctor’s Hospital in Masbate City, the report added.
The Balud police were still investigating the cause and origin of the explosion, said the report.
