2 cops hurt in clash with slay suspect

TWO policemen were injured in a firefight with a suspect in the killing of a car salesman they were about to arrest in Bgy. North Fairview, Quezon City, Tuesday afternoon.

PO3 Dandy Pascacio and PO2 Roberto San Miguel, both assigned to the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, are still being treated at the CommonwealthHospital. Both policemen are now in a stable condition.

QCPD director Chief Supt. Richard Albano said the two were among the group of policemen conducting surveillance operation at a slum area on Baker St., Fairmont Subdivision, against a suspect in the killing of Mark Matthew Alvarez, 27, a Mitsubishi car salesman, Saturday at agasoline station on Commonwealth Avenue in Bgy. North Fairview.

One of the injured policemen said they just arrived in the area when shots were fired.

Albano said four armed suspects were believed involved in the encounter. One of the four suspects, identified as Samsuding Anarik, 24, was also injured.

Following the violent gunfight, a red motorcycle now painted yellow which was seized from Alvarez was recovered in the area.

A manhunt was launched against the three other suspects, two of whom were identified only as Walad and Tago.
