2 car hijackers drive off with pickup in Quezon City
CAR THIEVES struck again in Quezon City at midnight Tuesday, taking with them a vehicle parked in front of the Toyota sales office on Agno Street, Barangay Tatalon.
Chief Insp. Rodelio Marcelo, chief of the Anti-Carnapping Unit of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD-Ancar) said two armed men hijacked a black Toyota Hi-Lux pickup (ZAG-678) owned by Toyota employee Josephine Lim.
Marcelo said the car hijackers also took the driver’s license and SSS and Philhealth cards.
Danilo Aguillon, 47, told police that after he got off from the Hi-Lux to open the door of the office garage, two men on board a Toyota Altis suddenly appeared. One of the men then pointed a gun at him.
Aguillon said that after taking his wallet and keys, one of the men boarded the Hi-Lux and drove away from the area tailed by the other suspect in the Altis.
Marcelo said this was the third car hijacking that took place near the boundary of Manila and Quezon City.
He said the place is a favorite of car hijackers because of its accessibility to various exit points.
The police official added that they have a possible lead on the two men based on data from closed circuit television cameras installed in the building.
Police warned car owners to be vigilant especially with the approach of the holiday season when car thieves are most likely to intensify their activities.
