OTABATO CITY, Philippines (Xinhua) – Gunmen in the southern Philippines assassinated two local traders, including a Filipino-Chinese, on Monday night, police said on Tuesday.

Eliezer Tan was unwinding inside the house of his business partner, Reynaldo Villanueva in the southern city of General Santos around 7:00 p.m. Monday when gunmen attacked them, said police officer Superintendent Rolly Octavio.

Citing another bystander was wounded, Octavio said the two died on the spot due to fatal wounds in their head.

“We’re currently looking at various angles as possible motive but the circumstances showed that the two victims were targeted by the gunman,” Octavio said.

Police are investigating the incident.
