MANILA, Philippines — Two brothers were killed and their youngest sibling seriously hurt in a shooting rampage late Saturday evening in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City, a police report said.
PO3 Joselito Gagaza of the homicide section of Quezon City Police District identified the fatalities as Lee Marvin Mediana, 27, construction worker, and Ralph Mediana, 21. Injured was Mark Lloyd Mediana, 18. The three were all residents of Veterans Village, Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City.
Investigation showed the brothers were in a drinking session with four other people along Major Marcos street at the corner of 5th street in Veterans Village at around 10 p.m. when unidentified gunmen appeared and opened fire at the group.
Witnesses said the suspects fled on foot immediately after the shooting.
The victims, police said, were brought by relatives to General Malvar Hospital. The victims police said, sustained gunshot wounds on the head, stomach, left knee and other parts of the body.
Police records showed that Lee was declared dead more than an hour later, while, Ralph, who suffered gunshot wounds in the abdomen, head, and left knee, died during treatment at around 11:20 p.m. at the same hospital.
Mark was later transferred to East Avenue Medical Center for further treatment on the left leg.
Gagaza said investigation had shown the brothers were the targets of the shooting because their companions were spared by the gunmen.
Police added the armed men were identified by some witnesses as among the group of Muslim residents in the next barangay who had an earlier dispute with the victims.
“The shooting incident could be a result of gang war in the area, ”he said.
