TWO of three suspected jeepney robbers were killed when they engaged policemen in a shootout in Quezon City Monday night.
Supt. Norberto Babagay, commander of the Tatalon Police Station, said the unidentified suspects were killed during an encounter with policemen led by Babagay at around 11 p.m. on BMA St., Bgy. Tatalon.
Two cal. .38 revolvers were recovered from the suspects as well as the items they took from their victims.
The three suspects boarded the jeepney (TWK-499) driven by Randy Ricapalaza on Quezon Avenue on its way to Project 8.
Along the way, the suspects declared a holdup. At gunpoint, they divested the passengers of their valuables.
Police in unmarked vehicles were on anti-criminality patrols in the area when they spotted the commotion in the jeepney.
Moments later, the suspects alighted from the jeepney.
The policemen were about to approach the suspects who opened fire upon seeing them, triggering a shootout.
