Police identified the fatality as Jose Nonito Gabitanan y Dejaresco, 44, single. Wounded was Margarito Saavedra.

A police report disclosed that Gabitanan who was armed with a bolo and carrying stones on both hands went to the house of Teofilo Manuel, who is a barangay tanod.

Manuel’s wife screamed for help prompting Gabitanan to flee.

Upon learning of the incident, Saavedra chased Gabitanan, who hid amid bushes.

Gabitanan approached Saavedra from behind and hacked him several times.

Although wounded, Saavedra manage to scream for help and was responded by his relatives who were armed with firearms and caught Gabitanan still attacking him.

Some of the relatives shot Gabitanan while others hacked him to death.

The police could not identify yet Saavedra;s relatives who killed Gabitanan.
