Nolcom commander David eyed to replace Bangit
Verzosa’s ‘right attitude’
Meanwhile, Reynaldo Pacheco of the Gunless Society lauded Aquino for his decision to keep Verzosa at the helm of the PNP.
Pacheco cited Verzosa’s “right attitude” on gun ownership, and said the latter was the only PNP chief who invited his group to a meeting about the controversial issue of gun possession.
“[Retaining Verzosa] is good for the country,” Pacheco told the Inquirer. “Verzosa has the right attitude … toward promoting peace and order. He believes in the relationship [between] guns and criminality.”
Verzosa proposed stricter rules on owning firearms following a dramatic drop in the crime rate after the PNP imposed a nationwide gun ban during the 150-day election period.
He also pushed for harsher penalties on illegal gun possession and for regulating the use of policemen and soldiers as security escorts of politicians
