A couple engaged in farming were killed in an ambush staged by unidentified armed men in Buug, Zamboanga del Sur, last Saturday.
Killed were Rodencio Paltar, 47, and his wife Lourdes, 39. Both succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds from a .45 caliber pistol.
Police said the couple were managing a big farm in the municipality.
It was learned that Rodencio and his wife were on their way home aboard a Honda XRM about 7 p.m. when gunmen positioned along the road sprayed them with bullets.
Police said the gunmen escaped towards a secluded area. Residents nearby rushed the couple to the hospital where they were declared dead on arrival.
Investigators suspect land dispute as the motive behind the incident.
The couple reportedly had a problem with other people with regard to the ownership of a lot.
