Five suspects who posed as passengers stabbed to death a taxi driver after divesting his earnings Sunday night in Quezon City.
Killed was Victor Rapis, 53, a driver of Metered Metro taxi, of Tondo, Manila. He was declared dead on arrival at the Far Eastern University (FEU) Hospital due to a fatal stab wound in the chest.
Investigator SPO1 Cristituto Zaldarriaga said the wounded Rapis managed to drive on until he bumped a tricycle in Bgy. Holy Spirit.
When tricycle driver Cesar Edolzora saw the unconscious victim, he quickly informed the barangay hall which rushed him to the hospital.
Zaldarriaga said the incident happened at around 8:45 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Adarna St. and Jasmine St., Bgy. Holy Spirit.
Before he died, the victim was able to tell the security guard of FEU Hospital what had happened to him.
Rapis said five unidentified men posing as passengers were involved in the robbery.
The taxi driver said the suspects flagged down his taxi in Sangandaan, Quezon City and asked that they be brought to Bgy. Holy Spirit.
When they reached the area, the suspects declared a holdup and, at knife point, took the driver’s undetermined amount in earnings.
Before the suspects alighted, they stabbed the driver in the chest.
