A 16-YEAR-OLD boy was wounded after he was hit by a stray bullet in barangay Banilad, Cebu City.
Police said the bullet that hit the boy came from the gun fired by Hermogenes Lindayao, who tried to shoot his neighbor after they argued at dawn yesterday.
The boy, a grade 5 pupil, was wounded in the right leg.
Prior to the accidental shooting, police said Hermogenes and his relative Honey Lindayao, a 56-year-old jeepney driver, argued with 20-year-old Joselito Andiola.
Police said Andiola confronted Hermogenes and Honey when he heard them talking about him while drinking alcohol.
Police said Honey challenged Andiola to a fistfight before he left.
Honey returned a few minutes later and challenged Andiola again.
Honey later drew a gun and handed it to Hermogenes.
Hermogenes pointed the gun at Andiola, sending his neighbor scampering for safety.
Hermogenes chased Andiola, fired a shot but missed and ended up hitting the boy.
Operatives of the Mobile Patrol Group and Special Weapons and Tactics arrived and arrested the Lindayaos.
The boy was brought to the Mandaue City District Hospital before he was transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center./Correspondent Tweeny M. Malinao
