SUSPECTED robbers killed a woman, beat up her elderly mother and fled with documents yesterday in Quezon City.
Police Supt. Osmundo De Guzman, QCPD Station 1 chief, said Maria Salud Gatmaitan, 59, died on the spot inside her home at 12 Ipo St., Bgy Salvacion.
Her mother Noemi Pineda, 83, is undergong treatment at the Chinese General Hospital.
De Guzman said both women sustained lacerated wounds in the head.
The police official said Gatmaitan and her housemaid Myla Padera were inside the house when they heard the doorbell at about 10:30 a.m.
Gatmaitan told Padera to open the gate to check who it was. The two suspects forced themselves into the house and allegedly confronted Gatmaitan.
The housemaid told the police that the suspects tied up her hands. She reportedly heard Gatmaitan plead,”Jay tama na patawarin mo na ako.”
The suspect hit Gatmaitan’s head repeatedly with a gun.
“Palabas na daw ‘yung mga suspek ng bahay nang makita nila ‘yung isa pang biktima (Pineda) kaya pinalo din daw ng baril sa ulo bago tumakas,” De Guzman said.
De Guzman said the suspects took several documents from the house.
Investigators theorized there were at least five suspects. Two entered the house, two waited in the AUV and one acted as a lookout.
QCPD deputy director for administration Senior Supt. Joel Pagdilao said the getaway vehicle used by the suspects, a green Mitsubishi Adventure (WCD-738), was found abandoned at the Sto. Domingo Church.
When checked, it is registered to Cenen Urbano, of Bgy. Bago Bantay.
Initially, Urbano claimed his son-in-law was the one who usually used the vehicle.
Pagdilao said Urbano was seen by a witness getting off the Adventure before it was abandoned at the church.
Urbano’s wife Dolores is a Gatmaitan, a relative of the slain woman’s husband, Pagdilao said.
Pagdilao added hat Urbano is now considered a suspect and would be questioned regarding the case. Four male suspects reportedly barged into the house. Only three persons were at the house that time including helper Myla Constantino Padera.
The suspects were believed to have taken off with an undetermined amount of cash, jewelry, and documents. Trash bags and strips of packing tape were also found inside the house. Melnie Ragasa-Jimena
