ONE of two suspects in the rape of a young Manila college student inside a house in Sta. Cruz in October 2011 was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group inside the Lyceum University of the Philippines in  Intramuros last Tuesday, officials announced yesterday.

Allan Kevin Jimenez, a 20-year old Lyceum student residing in Tondo, Manila was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest for rape issued by Judge Lorenzo R. de la Rosa of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 4 last March 13, a report to PNP-CIDG director, Chief Superintendent Francisco A. Uyami Jr. said.

CIDG Detection and Special Operations Division chief, Senior Supt. Harris R. Fama said the suspect is accused of raping a 17-year old college student from Sta. Cruz, Manila shortly after she got dizzy after drinking beer at the height of a baptismal party in Sta. Cruz where she stood as one of the baptismal sponsors of a friend’s child.

Now 19, the victim identified Jimenez and his 16-year old friend as the two men who separately sexually abused her past 6 p.m. of October 9, 2011. The rape took place inside the house of the other suspect whom she identified as the one who invited her to   dinner after leaving the baptismal reception, Fama said citing records of the case.

Fama said court records showed that while the victim was lying down on a bed at the 2nd floor of the second suspect’s house, someone turned off the light and started raping her. The other suspect followed the sexual abuse.

Both teenaged suspects were indicted for the crime of rape in different criminal case numbers, Fama said. The second suspect who was then only 16 years old was charged for violation of Republic Act 9344 or the Women and Children Protection Act.    Alfred Dalizon
