STA. MARIA, Bulacan — Operatives arrested one of two “Akyat-Bahay Gang” members during a follow-up operation in Sitio Gulod, Bgy. Guyong, the other day.

Sta. Maria police chief Supt. Lailene Amparo identified the arrested suspect as Ernie (not his real name), 17, of Pasong Kasay, Bgy. San Vicente, Sta Maria, while his cohort, also minor, escaped.

A report said that victim Aaron Serrano Jr., 33, single, of Bgy. Guyong, was sleeping in his house when the suspect entered the victim’s house and took away one unit of white I-Phone 4S using an improvised basket made of a fishnet attached to the end of a bamboo stick.

At around 5 p.m., the victim went to Pandayan Store at the Sta. Maria Public Market and was able to talk to one of the computer technicians who informed him that two men were selling the same unit of cellphone for Php10,000.

Suspecting that the item offered for sale was the victim’s cellphone, he chased the suspects and immediately sought the assistance of the police who responded and arrested the young suspect.

The suspect claimed that he was only asked by a cohort to accompany him to Pandayan Store.

The suspect further claimed that he was involved in the series of akyat-bahay incidents that occurred in Bgy. Poblacion, Sta Maria.

Criminal charges will be filed against the suspect.
