DAVAO police filed charges on Thursday before the City Prosecution Office against a 23-year-old man for killing his drinking buddy.
Charged with murder and violation of Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban, was identified as Reynaldo Mahinay Miguellano, 23, of Barangay 22-C in Davao City. He was charged after he yielded to the authorities.
The victim was identified as Demetrio Morales Quinones, 40, of Barangay 21-C.
Sta. Ana police initial investigation showed that the victim and the suspect had a drinking session at Piapi Public Market on Quezon blvd. on Wednesday at 5 p.m. when they engaged into heated argument.
The victim mauled the suspect, who immediately left the area, but after few minutes the suspect returned and stabbed the victim several times in different parts of his body.
The suspect left the victim and surrendered to a police mobile manned by one Police Officer 2 (PO2) Manligoy. The latter endorsed the suspect to the Sta. Ana police, while the victim was brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), where he died while undergoing treatment.
Recovered from the possession of the suspect was a 7-inch kitchen knife. The suspect is now detained at the Sta. Ana police station.
