A MAN drinking inside a videoke bar was shot on Rizal Street Friday dawn.

Chief Inspector Henry Cay-as, station commander of Divisoria police station, identified the victim as Jonathan Elaco, 32, married, of 502 Burgos-Macahambus St., this city.

Cay-as said the victim sustained gunshot wounds in the head, right chest, right thigh, and right arm. He was rushed to one of the hospitals, but he didn’t survive the gunshots.

The victim was with two other unknown companions — a male and a female — inside the videoke bar when three unidentified assailants armed with .45 caliber pistol shot him at close range, Cay-as said.

The suspects then fled on board three motorcycles with three other riders, he added.

Witnesses noticed three motorcycles with no plate numbers were parked in front of the bar before the shooting happened.

The police rushed the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Recovered from the crime scene were empty shells of caliber .45 pistol and a slug.

Incident investigator Police Officer 3 Alaindelon Tacubao said the police are trying to determine the identities of the suspects.

He said investigations would cover a background check of the victim, his family members and his two companions.

“Kung tinuod pa unta sila nga kauban sa biktima, ngano nga dali man sab lagi sila nawala sa lugar? Medyo kwestionable. Ila unta nga tabangan (If they were truly companions of the victims, why did they suddenly disappear from the place. It’s quite questionable. They should have helped him),” Cay-as said.

He said Elaco has no pending warrant of arrest or any criminal records, but the police believed he was involved in the proliferation of illegal drugs in the city.

“Posible tungod kini sa droga. Basin ug wala maka-remit o unsa ba kaha kay mag-unay unay na man sila (It is possible that this is because of drugs. Perhaps, he was not able to remit the gains. they have been killing each other),” Cay-as further said but clarified that all their investigations have yet to undergo verification including the motive of the shooting.

“Pero dili gihapon nato ma-discount ang angle nga posible nga duna kini siyay kaaway (Still we cannot discount the angle that he possibly has enemies),” he added.
