SAN Pablo City, Laguna — A man was arrested for shooting to death a female cook inside an eatery here at Sunday afternoon.

Police said the motorcycle-riding suspect, Edilberto Cabrera Paz, 39, jobless, of Bgy. San Francisco Calihan, this city, was nabbed at a police checkpoint at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Supt. Ericson Diaz Dilag, city chief of police, said the victim, Shirley Brucal Alday, 39, of Magcase Village, Bgy. Sto. Cristo, San Pablo City, was shot by the suspect inside Mavin’s Chill-Out Place on MH Del Pilar St., Bgy. IV-C, this city. The culprit was positively identified by the victim’s fellow workers at the police station after his arrest.

Police seized a 9mm pistol with two magazines and a plastic sachet of shabu from the suspect, who was charged with murder, illegal possession of firearm and drugs and violation of the Comelec gun ban.
