GOVERNMENT forces rescued a mother and her four children from their abductors the other day in Lanao del Norte.

This was confirmed yesterday by Maj. Gen. Ricardo Rainier G. Cruz III, commander of the Philippine Army 1st Infantry Division.

Identities of the victims were not yet available as of press time.

Cruz said the victims were rescued following a firefight between soldiers and kidnappers at around 5 p.m. on March 7.

When the suspects sensed that they were outnumbered, they fled and left their victims.

According to the victims’ relatives, five armed men entered their home in Bgy. Inoma and took them.

The incident was reported to authorities who immediately conducted follow-up operation that resulted in their rescue.

Police are now looking into land dispute as motive behind the kidnapping.
