UNIDENTIFIED gunmen, believed to be followers of politicians, strafed on Friday the residence of a candidate for mayor in Zamboanga Sibugay, a police official said Saturday.
Zamboanga Peninsula police spokesman Ariel Huesca said the incident took place around 2:45 a.m. on Friday at the residence of mayoralty aspirant Joshua Baroro in the village of Kulambugan, R.T. Lim town
Chief Inspector Huesca said that Baroro, 40, is the mayoralty bet of the administration’s Liberal Party (LP).
Huesca said no one among the occupants of the house, including the mayoralty candidate, was injured during the incident.
Investigation showed that Baroro and his family members were already asleep when suspects the attack happened.
The Baroro family, who were awaken by the burst of immediately gun fires, failed to recognize any of the suspects who fled, he said.
The incident is believed to be politically motivated and investigation continues aimed to unmask the suspects
