MANGALDAN – A suspected mentally deranged old man went into hacking-spree Wednesday morning at Macayug village here, killing his 20-year-old daughter while hurting another.

Mildred Mostales succumbed due multiple hack wounds while her 23-year-old sibling Chen is in critical condition.

The suspect, Jose Javier, 83, also held hostage his one-year-old grandchild but voluntarily surrendered his weapon, a knife and a bolo, to the policemen who arrived at the crime scene.

“Hindi na siya makausap ng matino. Nong tinanong naming bakit niya nagawa yon, sabi niya nawawala daw ang mga anak niya,” said Mangladan Police Chief Roberto Vocal.

Accordingly, without any word, suspect began stabbing the victims when he entered the victims’ house.

The victims were rushed to the hospital for medical attention while the suspect voluntarily surrendered to authorities. (LCMY/Sunnex)
