MANILA, Philippines – A carpenter was found dead in his room with several stab wounds Sunday morning while a fellow worker who was suspected of killing him has gone into hiding, the police said.
The body of Joselito Consolacion, a stay-in employee at Elisa Sison Building on Benitez Street in Paco, Manila, was discovered at about 3 a.m. by his co-workers, investigators at the Manila Police District homicide section said.
The man suspected of killing him was identified only as Gerald, a construction worker in his early 20s, according to a report reaching Insp. Armando Macaraeg, chief of the MPD homicide section.
“No one among [the] employees could give the exact story behind the [stabbing] and the whereabouts of the assailant who managed to flee the scene after committing the crime,” the report said.
Consolacion had several stab wounds in the back and chest. He was found slumped near his makeshift bed, investigators said.
Field foreman Arnel Ramos told investigators Gerald failed to show up for the attendance check and his personal belongings were nowhere to be found. The motive for the killing was still unclear.
