SAN MATEO Rizal – One of the four members of the bolt cutter gang was injured when a shootout with police operatives ensued after a member was caught in the act of robbing an internet shop, police said.
 
Supt. Ronaldo Mendoza, Chief of Police identified the injured as Ricardo Santos, 33, married and a resident of Sta.Mesa  Manila.
 
The other suspects were identified as Jun Castro, 38, married of  Paxo, Sta. Mesa, Manila, Rommel Botero, 42, married of  Tondo, Manila and a certain  alias Romy, who managed to escape.

Initial investigation conducted by PO2 Wilmer Privado, officer on case, said the incident occurred at around 2:30  a.m. when the suspects  barged and robbed a  Libay Tech Comp. Internet Café located along   Gen. Luna St., Brgy. Sta. Ana.
 
Police on patrol reportedly spotted one of the suspects outside the internet shop carrying a computer unit  while boarding it into a Mitsubishi L-300 van (WKU 402).
 
When the suspect saw the policemen about to approach them, the former suddenly fired shots at the responding policemen and a  brief  chase ensued as they reached the portion area of Brgy. Barangka, Marikina City .
 
Sensing defeat,  the suspects surrendered after one of their companion was shot and brought to the Amang Rodriguez Medical Center.
 
Police recovered  12 computer units from the robbers arrested.
