CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – A man was killed and placed inside the trunk of his own car, which was later found abandoned in Cabuyao, Laguna, police said Monday.
Senior Supt. Manolito Labador, Laguna provincial police director, in a text message said village watchmen phoned the police station at around 9:05 a.m. Sunday and reported that a car was “strangely” parked overnight in front of a laundry shop in Barangay (village) Niugan.
Upon investigation, the police discovered a body, which was later identified to be that of a certain Amoranto Gabenete, a resident of Lumban town.
Supt. Dante Novicio, Cabuyao police chief, said by phone that the victim’s hands and feet were tied with nylon twine and cloth and he bore a gunshot wound in the right chest that could have caused his death.
Quoting witnesses, he said three unidentified men left the car at around 4 a.m. on Saturday before they boarded a van that headed towards Sta. Rosa City.
The car, a Mazda 3 with plate number XTV-343, belonged to the victim.
Novicio said crime operatives have yet to release its autopsy report while police investigation is still ongoing.
