ANOTHER suspected member of the notorious Alferez Robbery-Holdup Group was found dead in Sta. Rosa City and believed to have been summarily executed by his former cohorts just like the one killed in Caloocan City last week, the Journal Group learned yesterday.
Galileon Carpio alias ‘Tata/Tangkad,’ a resident of Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur was still wrapped in a carpet when found by local residents along the main road in Villa Cacres Subdivision, Sta. Rosa City past 6 a.m. Sunday.
Crime Laboratory investigators were still determining the exact cause of death of the suspect. However, there were initial reports that the suspect was strangled to death in a gangland-style execution carried out by his former cohorts who are suspecting that they are being “double-crossed” by their fellows. Carpio has been linked to the 2011 daring heist at the Bank of the Philippine Islands branch in Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City where he was seen armed with an M-16 automatic rifle.
The discovery of the body in Sta. Rosa City came four days after Eduardo de la Cruz Nobleza alias ‘Eddie’ died in the attack inside a suspected Alferez Robbery-Holdup Group’s hideout in Deparo, Caloocan City. Three of his suspected cohorts identified as Antonio Salvador, one ‘JM’ and an alias ‘Panoy’ fled the scene after stealing a passing AUV at gunpoint. He is another key member of the notorious Alferez Robbery-Holdup Group wanted for at least nine major bank robberies in the country where nearly P100 million in cash have been stolen.
