Agrarian reform officer shot; suspected gunman arrested
COTABATO CITY, Philippines – The Maguindanao provincial agrarian reform officer was wounded in a daylight assassination attempt here Monday.
Senior Insp. Wally Kasuyo, chief of police of station No. 1, said Bing Bacar was inside her pick-up vehicle parked near a bakery store while her nephew was buying bread at a bakery along Quezon Avenue, this city, when she was shot.
A man armed with a hand gun approached the passenger’s side of Bacar’s vehicle and opened fire three times at about 3:30 p.m.
Bacar sustained two gunshot wounds in her arms and body and was rushed to a private hospital here. Bacar’s driver was also injured.
Responding policemen later arrested a suspect.
Bacar was heading for home and stopped by a bakery to buy bread when she was shot.
Police are still investigating the gunman who remained unidentified.
