ANGELES City — Eight members of a notorious gun-for hire and robbery- holdup group were arrested last Saturday after they broke into the house of a lawyer in Bgy. Balibago and shot him in the left ear.

Chief Insp. Leoncio Senense, head of the Pampanga Criminal and Investigation Team, said the suspects, led by one Ronnie Murillo, 22, alias Burnok, of Marikina City, were placed under surveillance by the CIDG-AOCD in Camp Crame for involvement in various robbery and murder cases in Central Luzon and Metro Manila.

The other arrested suspects were identified as Mark Anthony Elizalde, 26, and Joshua Lumtao, 50, both of Caloocan City; Solomon Diaz, 40, Jonas Alegria, 19, and Abraham Desaca, 39, of Quezon City; Cesar Baldonado, 46, and his son Cesar Baldonado Jr., 18, of City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

The suspects broke into the house of Atty. Jonathan Javate in Mt. View Subd., Bgy. Balibago, at around 4 a.m. last Feb. 23, hogtied the people inside and shot the lawyer in the left ear as they were robbing the victims.

Unknown to them, operatives of the CIDG-AOCD, Pampanga CIDT, PRO3 and this city’s police were already tailing them.

Police surrounded the house and fired warning shots, prompting the suspects to surrender.

Confiscated from the suspects were a cal. .45 model 1911 Springfield pistol, a .357 handgun, two .38 caliber handguns, two fragmentation grenades, assorted ammunition and knives.

The suspects face charges of robbery with frustrated homicide, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and violation of the election gun ban.

Senense said the group’s leader, Murillo, also known as Ringo dela Cruz and Burnok, has a pending arrest warrant for robbery in Marikina City.

He said Murillo’s group is also a suspect in the frustrated homicide of ABS-CBN technical director Crisologo Pangan in February 2012, the murder of two barangay tanods in Arayat, Pampanga, in April 2012, and other robbery and murder cases in various parts of Central Luzon and Metro Manila last year.
