MEXICO, Pampanga. – “Kung ano ang ginawa niya sa apo ko ganun din dapat ang gagawin sa kanya! Anim na taon pa lang ang apo ko, ganun ang ginawa niya. Tapos sinunog pa niya. Hindi na siya naawa sa bata.”

Thus said the grieving Imelda Sumagi, 47, grandmother of six-year-old Ryza Mae Gomez, who was raped, killed and burned at a grassy area at Royal Meadows Subdivision in Barangay Tangle last Sunday evening by still unidentified suspect or suspects.

The girl’s naked and burnt body was discovered the next day around 6 a.m. at a grassy lot in Fuschia Street.

It was learned that Ryza went to the subdivision’s clubhouse around 2:00 p.m. last Friday where she played with friends until 6:00 p.m.

Ryza started to live with her grandmothers Sumagi and Adoracion Pagcu after her father was killed by gunmen some  years ago. Her mother works as a vendor in Angeles City.

Investigators believe that Ryza was on her way home from the clubhouse when she was snatched and killed.
