Police operatives rescued two kidnap victims and killed four suspects in separate operations in Bulacan and Laguna provinces.
PNP Chief Director General Alan Purisima identified the rescued victims as a Mr. Gurtej Singh, an Indian national, and Apple Kao Hsin Yu, 11, a Grade 6 student in an exclusive school in Calamba City.

Two of the suspects were identified as Wenie Olaivar, 27 and a certain Alias Ariel, 27, both residents of Sto. Cristo, Pulilan, Bulacan. The two others remained unidentified.
Recovered from the suspects were a .38 revolver and 2 cal. 45 pistols, a hand grenade, 2 mobile phones, a nylon rope and a notebook.
Purisima said Singh, along with his wife, Kulwinder Kaur, were snatched by five suspects while they were on a business meeting in Brgy. Sto. Cristo on December 22, 2012.
The suspects then called their family and demanded P20 million but eventually reduced it to P10 million.
Seven days later, the suspect freed Ms Kaur after her family paid P227,000, but Singh remained in their custody.
The suspects asked for another P3 million, and to force his family to pay the ransom, cut a finger and sent it to the victim’s family. This was when the family decided to seek police assistance that led to his rescue on January 4.
Meanwhile, a separate group of kidnappers asked P25 million ransom for Yu, who was kidnapped on Jan. 9.
The kidnappers, who reportedly wore police uniforms, entered Ceris village in Brgy. Canlubang and took the victim at gun point.
