At least two passengers aboard a provincial bus were killed in a shooting incident aboard a provincial bus along the South Luzon Expressway Friday morning.
The incident occurred at the Manila-bound part of SLEX near Muntinlupa City at about 8:50 a.m., radio dzBB’s Mao dela Cruz reported.
Muntinlupa City police, including Special Weapons and Tactics units, have started tracking down at least two gunmen who got off the bus as it reached the Aglipayan Cemetery.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Roque dela Vega cited initial information showing the bus (TYU-739) was heading for Metro Manila from Tanauan in Batangas when the shooting occurred.
He said the two gunmen stood up and fired at two passengers, killing one of them. The second victim was rushed to a hospital in Muntinlupa City.
But a report on “24 Oras” said the second victim eventually succumbed to his injuries.
Police are trying to get leads on the motive behind the shooting.
Friday’s shooting occurred in the midst of an election gun ban where only law enforcers on duty and in uniform may carry firearms outside their homes. — ELR, GMA News
