TWO dead bodies of a fish vendor and a lumberjack were found in a rice field in a remote village in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Saturday.
Found dead were Jessie Velasco, 37, a fish vendor, and Rafael Calla, 68, a lumberjack, both residents of Poblacion West village, Salug town, according to the report from the Zamboanga del Norte police command.
The police said the victims were found dead around 6 a.m. Friday in the village of Kayok, Liloy municipality.
The police learned the victims were riding tandem on a motorcycle coming from Salug town bound for Liloy municipality when attacked by four unidentified gunmen aboard on two motorcycles that tailed them.
Further investigation showed the suspects even disembarked from their motorcycle to finish off the victims after they fell on the ground, the police said.
Investigation continues to determine the motive and to establish the suspects’ identities, the police added.
